Masseria Faraone | harvesting from our Green Peas (mini) Crop
Last week we picked up some fresh Green Peas from our Legumes crop in the gardens of Masseria Faraone.
Our Legumes crop was planted at the start of December last year, with Fava Beans, Chick Peas and Lentils too. So it took about 5 months for the seeds to grow into beautiful legumes plants.
Lets specify that this was our first legumes crop planted by us at the Masseria, without the use of fertilizers or pesticides. Which shows in the picture since not all the seeds planted managed to grow into plants. But we are happy regardless because the ones that did reaped the most delicious Green Peas!
Once we filled up a basket of green peas pods we start the opening of the pea pods and take out all the peas (shown here below)

Step 3
After collecting all the green peas from the pods, we are ready to cook them!
We are simply going to boil them, add a touch of Olive Oil and a finely cut onion.
No need to add anything spectacular here, simplicity is sometimes the best recipe when you have a legume that is so fresh and naturally grown!

Retreating at Masseria Faraone not only means enjoying a re-creational vacation in the Valle d'Itria's coutnryside, yet it also means nourishing your body with good food grown right in our gardens all naturally.
